Map to Powers Funeral Home
Welcome to Powers Funeral Home
Powers Funeral Home originally started in the early 1900’s. It was known as Spur & Dunlap Undertakers. It operated under that name until the early ’20 when Paul Wrigley and Samuel Clements took over the operations and renamed the business Wrigley-Clements Funeral Home.
The funeral home operated 30 plus years under that name until 1956 when Pierce Powers purchased the funeral home and renamed the business once again, this time to Powers Funeral Home, as it is now known by.
Under the encouragement of Good Samaritan Hospital Mr. Powers started operating a Ambulance Service out of the funeral home. This quickly became a very important assest to the community in caring for their healthcare needs. The bright yellow ambulances became a trade mark running throughout the Puyallup Valley.
In January of 1986 Mr. Powers died but the business continued to prosper under the direction of his wife, Elinor and the other children in the family.
The old Powers Funeral Home was located at 120 W Pioneer Ave, which is now where the weekly Farmers Market is held. The existing building was built and occupied in 1997.
